8 Series / ViaColori / Mini S / Jennifer and David...

I haven't been updating much lately because of rotations and work tiring me out. Being lazy also doesn't help either haha. So why update now? I'm done with my first semester of clinical rotations! One more semester and I'm gradumated (spelling/grammar error intended). Since I have free time now and I don't work for CVS anymore, I'm going to start a studio project for this winter. I'm going to start shooting more people!

So far, I have most of the camera gear. I just need light modifiers, backgrounds, and stands. Looks like I have to invest in a bit more gear than I'd like which I never like doing. I'm even thinking about selling my 2 30D bodies for a 5Dmk1 since they're going down in price. If I do that, I would have to sell my 10-22 and pick up a 17-40L. Somebody stop me!

Well here are a couple of images from last month:

Kaba Modern!

I heard KABA Modern (KM) was going to be in Houston a few days ago and debated on seeing them but little did I know they were going to be signing autographs on my side of town. So here was my chance to get pictures of a famous group of dancers from America's Best Dance Crew. The group consisted of Yuri Tag, Tony Tran, Mike Song, Lawrence Kao, Cindy Minowa, and Jia Huang. They're also known as KM MTV crew instead of current KM 2008 team.

I met up with Alex and his cousin before heading to the autograph session. We hit a couple of balls and left there by 5:30pm. We got there and there was a big crow of asian kids surrounding the autograph area. We got to see some familiar faces (Harrison, JohnL of http://www.planet-zero.com/, and Titooo). Since my friend and I had really expensive looking cameras, we got in as "Media". I got to meet another photographer whom only shoots famous myspace people as a hobby. I thought that was pretty cool.

I didn't really get a chance to meet KM, but I just stood on the side and took pictures. It's just awesome watching these guys get a small community so hyped up. I would have to say there were more than 300 people at The Yogurt Spot (www.theyogurnspotusa.com). I was wondering what would happen if Hannah Montana did something like this... $$$ right?

University of Houston Architecture Building

I knew I was going to take a shot of one of the buildings at UH after studying so I brought my gear with me. It's a shame some of the trees and cars got in the way =/

I took three exposures of this photo and ran it through photomatix. Then I used the tonemapping feature to enhance the colors alittle. After that I edited the picture in photoshop to make some final adjustments.

Ken Oak Band

I first saw their performance at UH a couple of years ago and I got hooked to their mello/acoustic style. My brother told me they were coming on monday to play at UH. I took my camera gear with me to class and waited. They had played for a total of 2+ hrs, 7p@UH and then 8:30@Teahouse, which is pretty cool because it was an open event for anyone. Everyone who walked by stopped, listened, and watched them perform.

These were all shot with 20D, 50 1.8, and tam 17-50 2.8. ISO was always 400+.

Yep, Ed broke his strings several times... prob bc of the humidity.

These were shot at Teahouse. Sucks that they had to play in such a cramped place.
